WordPress 4.1 “Dinah” is available for download, after nearly four months of development. 4.1 contains several improvements such as a new default theme, an improved distraction free writing experience, and plugin recommendations, led by John Blackbourn.
With a focus on content, Twenty Fifteen is a two-column theme. Twenty Fifteen is light in color with a left hand sidebar and content in the right column, in sharp contrast to Twenty Fourteen. It’s looks great on various screen sizes and designed with a mobile first approach.When using large and featured images, Twenty Fifteen looks best. It also ships with five different color schemes, ranging from dark to pink that are accessible from within the theme customizer.
You’ll see a new Recommended tab, when you browse to the Add New plugins screen. All Recommendations are based on data from thousands of WordPress sites about plugins that are used together commonly. It’s similar to an online store’s “people who bought this also bought this” feature. Plugins that are 3-4 years old or older won’t be recommended, because of the strict data set used.
Improved Distraction Free Writing
The surrounding interface disappears as you type leaving important actions and menu items just a mouse movement away, When you enable Distraction Free Writing mode. This mode minimizes distractions without having to go through a clunky transition to access the meta boxes and admin menu.Move the mouse cursor to the left or right of the editor to bring back the meta boxes and menu.
Log Out of Every Session With One Button
A new Session UI included in WordPress 4.1. When wordpress detects more than one active session, the UI shows up on the profile page. The button logs out of every session except for the active one, when it pressed. This is useful for those times when users might have forgotten to log off the public computer, laptop or phone.
Inline Image Editing
While using the Visual editor for editing an image, Above the image, a set of inline editing tools appear. These tools provide a easy and quick way to align an image or access additional editing options.
oEmbed Support Added For Vine
The easy embedding feature is mostly powered by oEmbed, a protocol for site A (such as your blog) to ask site B (such as YouTube) for the HTML needed to embed content from site B. oEmbed was designed to avoid the need to copy and paste HTML from the site hosting the media you wish to embed. It supports videos, images, text, and more. WordPress 4.1 has oEmbed support for Vine which hosts short videos that continuously loop. Sharing a Vine is now as easy as copying and pasting the URL into the Visual editor.
Choose a Different Language at Any Time
By visiting the General Settings screen, you can now choose a language for your site at any time. Required language pack is installesd by choosing a different language.
